Laser Printer Mishandling

This is an example of buyer beware, especially when dealing with e-bay sellers.

I found out the hard way, if the seller does not have a thousand positive feedback marks, e-mail before you purchase, if only to see if they really want to complete a satisfactory transaction.

I had e-mailed the seller of this printer as soon as the auction had ended with instructions for shipping, I was prepared to pay extra to have it shipped properly, and informed the customer of this.

for days he did not respond to my messages, when he did respond all he had said was “ the printer has shipped, enjoy “

Now I am working with Paypal to resolve this, obviously the seller didn’t care about the printer or my satisfaction, and I’m sure he’s not worried about negative feedback, as he only had 4 ratings previously, unfortunately, it is transactions like this that make it hard for legitimate sellers to get started on e-bay.

Well I learned my lesson, I’ll still buy and sell on e-bay but I will be more selective.

This is an example of how not to ship a laser printer.

This person took the printer, turned it sideways (never turn a laser on it’s side while there is any and I mean any toner in it, including the waste container)

Then placed 3 to 4 rolled up pieces of newspaper in the bottom of the box “to protect it in shipment”

There are no markings on the box that the Item is fragile, nor that it should be kept oriented in any particular direction.

Here we see the printer as we start to open:

Then we open the box and this is what we find:

We did not remove any packing material, No foam, no peanuts, no bubble wrap, the only packing material is the newspaper you can see in the bottom of this photo:

As you can see here, the lack of any packing material is responsible for some serious case damage:

Here is what the printer looks like once out of the box:

Of course the inside looked just as bad:

At this point I stopped taking pictures, I was pretty well upset, thinking I had just paid someone for this printer, I had given them instructions on how to avoid damage before they shipped it, and they had completely ignored my requests, Even when I had offered to pay more for the shipping.

We did open the top and back doors later and inspected the inside, and as you can imagine there were many broken plastic pieces floating around inside.

In my opinion, there is no excuse for this.
